In Ekiti, TUC Urges Workers Not To Accommodate Visitors From Other States During Lockdown Period
The Trade Union Congress, TUC, Ekiti State Council has advised workers in the state to be wary of accommodating visitors from other states in this period of COVID-19 lockdown.
Reacting to the report of another COVID-19 case in the state, Chairman of the Congress, Mr Sola Adigun said it became imperative for all residents of the State to be on alert and put on Extra caution.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti, Mr Adigun advised workers that if anyone, no matter his closeness sneaked into their domain from other states, they should insist on the person going on isolation or report such person to the government.
He noted that the holy books injunctions on love for one’s neighbour as oneself did not imply that one should put himself and other members of the family in avoidable danger, adding that anyone whose relationship is strained during this period would be mended once there is life after the scourge.
The TUC Chairman noted that despite the pain being experienced as a result of the lockdown, workers should support the government by compliance, as it is the most practicable measure to stop the spread of the deadly disease which has humbled great nations with the best medicare.
He also threw the support of workers behind any step taken by the Dr Fayemi led the state government to curtail the spread of the pandemic in Ekiti state, “including the effective distribution of palliatives to cushion the effect of the lockdown”.
The TUC boss equally has a word for security operatives saying, “let’s all exhibit a high level of diligence and patriotism. The security agencies and everyone involved should see this as a national call to save lives and not to make illicit money or harass citizens unnecessarily”.
Comrade Sola Adigun appreciated all meaningful citizens and groups including Aare Afe Babalola, Chief Olanipekun for their material contributions to combating the spread of the virus and make life bearable for the people.
He asked for more contributions from well- to -do citizens so that the palliative could go round the citizens and workers inclusive.
