KWASU VC Lauds Buhari On Prof Gambari’s Appointment As Chief Of Staff

The Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Prof. Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the honour done to Kwara state, Ilorin emirate, and KWASU in particular by appointing the pioneer Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, as his new Chief of Staff.

Prof. Akanbi described the President’s appointment of a world class diplomat as excellent, and assured him that Prof. Gambari would bring his wealth of experience to bear in discharging his duty and justify the confidence reposed in him by the President.

He said: “The choice of Prof. Gambari as Chief of Staff to the President could not have come at a better time than now when Nigeria needed local and global thinking to get her out of the challenges brought about by the current COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the entire world, Nigeria inclusive.

“I am confident that Prof. Gambari’s appointment will give additional international recognition to Nigeria which will ultimately take the country’s governance to the next level.

“The respected Prof. Gambari’s career as an academic and international civil servant has taken him to far-flung corners of the world, including London, New York, Nicosia (Cyprus), Singapore, Rwanda, the war-torn Dafur region of the Sudan, Bellagio in Italy, to Yangon in Myanmar, such that today, he is being widely referred to as a global citizen.

“I ecalled that since 1984 when Prof. Gambari was Nigeria’s External Affairs Minister, he has remained a constant figure at the international scene as Nigeria’s pride, and KWASU has immensely benefitted from his intellectual and administrative acumen when on March 4, 2013, he was appointed pioneer Chancellor of the university.”

The VC commended the new CoS on the indelible marks he recorded in KWASU, saying that his rich ideas and administrative legacies have lifted KWASU to an enviable standard.

Prof. Akanbi also felicitated with the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari; Ilorin Emirate as well as the entire people of Kwara State over the appointment given to a highly respected professor of international repute, a Kwaran and a Prince of Alimi dynasty in Ilorin.

Prof. Gambari was appointed Chief of Staff to President Buhari following the demise of the immediate past Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari in April, 2020.
