Shettima Arrives In London To Escort Buhari’s Body To Nigeria
Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in London following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He was received at the airport by Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar.
Shettima’s trip to the United Kingdom was ordered by President Bola Tinubu after Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, at approximately 4:30 pm in London.
The Vice President, alongside the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will oversee arrangements to bring Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.
Former President Buhari, aged 82, served as Nigeria’s democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023 and was military Head of State from January 1984 to August 1985.
In honour of the late leader, President Tinubu has directed that flags be flown at half-mast across the nation.
