All may not be well yet with the rumoured appointment of a new Oore of Otun in Moba Local Government area of Ekiti State as another ruling house is already protesting the alleged emergence of the new monarch.

The Social Media was awashed with the story that Ifa Oracle and Kingmakers in the ancient community have appointed a candidate as the next Oore.

However, members of the ‘Obajeu’ ruling House described the news as a ruse saying all ruling Houses in the town in line with custom, tradition and precedence resolved that the next Oore should be produced by Ile ‘Obajeu’ and not ‘Iyaaba’ as erroneously claimed by the story being circulated.

Speaking to newsmen on the matter,Counsel to Ile Obajeu, Mr Olakanmi Falade explained that if truly it was government that directed that a new Oore be selected from Iyaaba ruling House, such would be in contravention of the subsisting Ekiti State Chief Law.

“Government has no business in being a kingmaker when there are kingmakers in the town prescribed by law, worst still is that the act of government supposedly directing ile Iyaaba as the next ruling house to present a candidate for the Oore of Otun is based on a Law that does not exist having been nullified by the then Ondo State High Court and affirmed by the Supreme Court I.e the 1961 declaration in law is a nullity”. The counsel explained.

Mr Falade disclosed that the Obajeu ruling House had already filed and served an injunction on the relevant parties, restraining them from taking further action pending the determination of the case.

According to Mr Falade, “Government is obliged to respect the rule of law because a suit and motion on notice for injunction had already been filed and served on government and all other necessary parties to stay further action and maintain the status quo in the interest of justice and peace”.

The stool of Oore of Otun Ekiti, headquarter of Moba Local Government became vacant when Oba Adedapo Popoola who joined his ancestors in October last year.
