No fewer than eighteen members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ila-Orangun, Ila local government area of Osun were on Tuesday admitted into the state general Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo after being attacked by the hoodlums suspected to be political thugs.

The victims according to our correspondent sustained various degree of injuries in political attacks that occurred in the sleepy community last week Saturday.

They had earlier been admitted at the state Hospital, Ila-Orangun before they were later being transferred to state general hospital where they are currently receiving treatment

Narrating their ordeals, one of the victims, Mr Adebayo Ismail said some political thugs descended on them on Saturday with cutlass and other dangerous weapons.

Speaking on the development, the chairman of All progressive congress in osun state, Prince Gboyega Famodun urged police to wade in and put an end to political attacks in the state.

Famodun decried the attack, saying it was capable of causing political crisis in the state.

Describing the incident as barbaric and condemnable, Famodun said PDP resorted to violence because they believed that the only way through which they could wrestle power from them is violence.

“In Ila-Orangun on Saturday morning, hoodlums suspected to be political thugs working for PDP decided to attack my members with cutlass, guns, knives and machetes. They were shooting sporadically into the air and a times attempting to shoot at our people.

“Also, there are serious attacks in Atakunmosa east, houses were burnt, party chairman was harassed, his houses were burnt. The index finger of the daughter of Iyaloja Atakunmosa was cut away by hoodlums of PDP”

He called on members and supporters of the party to maintain calm and shun all forms of reprisal in the interest of peace.

The chairman of peoples Democratic party in osun state, Hon Soji Adagunodo said police had not been up and doing, saying members of the party were being faced with series of attacks since last week Thursday.

Adagunodo hinted that his party had combined list of attacks on his members and promised to forward it to osun state police command.

Describing APC as party full of lies and propaganda, Adgunodo said “They are again trying to implicate our Party members, the PDP and Police authority by making them enmeshed in frivolous arrest of members of the opposition parties based on unconfirmed allegations of attacks and other untoward activities.

The State Chairman made reference to a petition written against PDP members in Ila local government area of the state by APC who brought about 12 people to Asubiaro hospital claiming that PDP members attacked and injured them.

“They wore bandages on their legs, arms, heads and other parts of their bodies but a closer observation revealed that all their claims of attacks, injuries etc, are mere frame up and there were no injuries on the entire 12 people who carried bandages all over their bodies.

“In order to remain impartial, the police commissioner in Osun State should, as a matter of duty, investigate the hospital, the policemen who investigated the story and come out with clean a bill to convince Nigerians and Osun people as an unbiased umpire in the present situation and possibly apply the appropriate law to sanction them as a deterrent to others like them who may want to create and confusion in our dear state.

He urged his members and supporters to maintain calm and shun acts capable of disrupting the electoral process.

On her part, osun state commissioner for police,Mrs Abiodun Ige noted that police would ensure that perpetrators of dastardly acts were brought to justice.

Mrs Ige charged politicians to play the game according to the rules saying police would not tolerate any act of lawlessness.
