NACETEM DG, Ukwuoma Bags Leadership Award In Youth Development

Commendations and laurels came the way of Director General, National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Ile-Ife, Prof. Ukechukwu Okwuoma on Monday January 29, 2018 as he was honoured for his contributory roles in the development of youth, selfless service to humanity, Nigeria students and the nation at large.
The NACETEM D G was honoured with distinguish leadership award of “Icon of Greater Nigerian” by National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS).
The association said it honoured the DG with the award base on his unalloyed support to the development of youth, his believe in education and by extension Nigerian students.
National Vice President, National Association of Polytechnic Student, Comrade Fatoyinbo Bidemi Stephen who led the delegation to NCETEM headquarters, Ile-Ife where the award presentation was done said the award was conferred on Prof Okwuoma in recognition of his love shown for the Nigerian students and youth as well the masses.
He said, “We are gathered here today to celebrate the man who believes in education and by extension Nigerian students.
“Believing in philosophy that man owes to humanity without question to live every society better than he met it by contributing his quota.
“As keen observers of your delectable and impeccable records, his visionary leadership acumen and characteristics are really found lately.
“The DG has displayed rare commitment to the course of common man which makes a gathering of this magnitude unavoidable.
“He is a seasoned administrator, good staff coordination, effective service delivery, transparent, resource personnel, assistant to students and students organisation as well as philanthropist per excellent to mention but a few.
“We find your unparalleled passion and commitment for general development of Nigeria highly complementary to most topical issues of the power as tool for development.
“When people do well and you did not commend their efforts, especially in a society where wrongs are easily punished, doers of goodwill would decide to toll other parts for cheap honour. It is based on this affirmation that the organisation decide to recognize and eulogise individuals, corporate organisations, academia and many others.
“I will submit by saying today’s bequest, conferment and investiture is in confirmation of the fact that ‘Honourable deeds are not performed by chicken hearted fellows, but rather by men who are not afraid of vagaries of adventures ‘men who knows that when you aspire to acquire a desire you don’t retire instead you re-fire until you achieve the ultimate desire.
“Finally, I have a rare honour and privilege on behalf of over 20.1 million and one Nigeria students to pronounce your confirmation with distinguish leadership award as ICON OF GREATER NIGERIAN in due recognition of your selfless service to humanity, Nigeria students and the Nation at large.”
Responding, the awardee, Prof Okwuoma appreciated the students for counting him worthy, promising to continue to contribute his own quota to the development of the country by rendering necessary assistance to Nigerian youth.
Prof Ukwuoma, who recounted the contribution he made while in the University as a student charged the students on the need to remain focused and determined in their education pursuit.
“I am very excited with this award and I believe this award of honour would propel me to do more in future. What you have done today would ever remain in my memory”, he said.
