Breaking: Saraki, Ahmed Finally Dumps APC
Nigeria’s Senate President, Bukola Saraki has, after months of speculation, dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress .
Saraki announced his defection through his official Twitter handle today, Tuesday. He said, “I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations , I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress,”.
He, however , did not say to which party he will be defecting .
In the same vein Kwara state Governor, Abdul-Fatai Ahmed has also dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. He also announced his defection today, Tuesday on his official Twitter handle. Ahmed gave same reason as Saraki for his defection.
Saraki and Ahmed defected to the APC from the then ruling party People’s Democratic Party (PDP ) in January 2014 along with ten other Senator’s and four Governor’s .
Rumours of Saraki’s defection have been rife since 2015 when he was elected as the President of Nigeria’s 8th Senate in a circumstance that the APC leadership found disturbing.
This follows gale of defections which has seen 14 Senator’s, 37 members of the House of Representatives and Governor of Benue state, Samuel Orton dumping the APC.
