CityMirrorNews gathered that the meeting was called at the instance of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Sources privy to the meeting disclosed that it was called to persuade Salam to step down from the governorship race.

Few minute after the meeting ended, Aregbesola twitted a picture taken with Lagos State Governor. Akinwumi Ambode, Salam and Famodun on his twitter handle with a caption: “I was in Lagos today to meet with Governor Akinwumi Ambode. Very successful deliberation.”

Confirming the report on the meeting, Salam wrote on his facebook account: “No Retreat, No Surrender: On West Agenda I stand.”

Salam’s facebook post eased the tension that had gripped supporters of the speaker and those clamouring for Osun West to produce Aregbesola’s successor, who had thought Salam had compromised.
