The internal conflict within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State which led to the conduct of two separate state Congresses recently in the state capital, has climaxed in the exit of the Unity group faction from the party.

Consequently, the Minister of Communications, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu, a serving Senator, Monsurat Sunmonu, nine members of the House of Representatives and many state Lawmakers who are in the Unity Group faction of the party have announced their decision to join another political party.

With this development, a faction named after Senator Abiola Ajimobi called SENACO, has got its own Executive sworn in Abuja by the National Chairman of the party, Chief Odigie Oyegun.

The State Public Relations Officer of Unity Forum Group, Mr.Wale Sadare confirmed a post on internet stressing that his Unity Group faction has left the APC.

Sadare who was pressed to disclose the new destination of his group, said that the press would be informed at the appropriate time refusing to comment on the fate of Barrister Adebayo Shittu who is currently serving under the APC government.

One of the leaders of the Unity Group who has left the party, Mr Wasiu Olatubosun who was a close associate of Governor Ajimobi, alleged that the SENACO group which eventually got its congress ratified by the National Executive of APC, built its house on fraud adding that forms got by delegates who elected their executives were not properly obtained and paid for.

According to him, the inauguration of its state Executive has been challenged in court adding that he was disappointed that APC which laid claim to internal democracy was far from the rule of law.

However, Governor Ajimobi in a paid advertorial, appealed to the aggrieved members to let them dialogue for the progress of the party by amicably resolving their conflict in the overall interest of the party.

Chief Oyegun, the national Chairman of APC hinted in Abuja on Monday that a committee has been set up to reconcile the dissenting groups in the party before the party’s national convention coming up very soon.

Meanwhile, Political watchers in the state attributed the defeat of APC candidate last week during the bye election where the PDP candidate won to the internal crisis that has polarised the party in the state.

A Chieftain of the party who pleaded anonymity said”the APC has shot itself in the leg and should be prepared to bear the consequences of the dictatorship of its leaders who refused to accept the views of others. The opposition’s will now be able to exploit the situations”
