Osun: ADP Remains The Party To Beat In The September 22 Governorship Election- Sunday Akere

By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo

A prominent member of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun State, Oluomo Sunday Akere, Monday reiterated that the ADP doors are widely open for members of other political parties in the state to team up with the party and ensure ADP’s victory at the governorship poll slated for Sept 22, this year.

Hon. Sunday Akere

Akere stated this while reacting to the rumour making the round that the governorship candidate of ADP, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti had concluded plans to surrender his mandate and align with one of the political parties and its candidate ahead of the September 22 gubernatorial election in Osun State.

The former Commissioner in a statement issued and signed by the Moshood Adeoti Campaign Organization’s (MACO) Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Kayode Agbaje and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the state capital described the rumour as a jock of century, saying ADP remains the party to beat in the coming gubernatorial election in the state.

According to Akere, “The ADP remains the party to beat in the September 22 governorship election and its candidate, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti can’t afford to waste the people’s support for his ambition by surrendering the mandate to another candidate from another party.

“Those harbouring the thought should rather bury it, as our party, and its candidate are not available for sale,” Akere emphasized.

In his reaction, ADP standard bearer, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, described the rumour as untrue, saying he still remain in ADP.

Adeoti said, his decision to contest in the governorship election was never for any self-serving reason but in the best interest of the masses.

According to Adeoti, “I didn’t just wake up one day to say I wanted to contest in the governorship election for self-serving purpose.

“I have the support of the people who believe in my ability to take Osun to the next level,” Alhaji Adeoti stated.

The ADP candidate further stated that since he secured the ADP’s governorship ticket, the thought to surrender his supporters’ mandate has never for once crossed his mind.

While calling on his teeming supporters across all the party divides to disregard such rumour, Alhaji Adeoti called on other political parties with progressive backgrounds to join hands with him and the ADP to create a state of their dreams.

He further warned the masterminds of the rumour to desist from spreading such rumours that are capable of confusing the electorate.

“While I want to use this opportunity to appeal to my teeming supporters in the ADP and those in other parties to disregard such rumours from the pit of hell, I also want to warn the masterminds of such rumours to desist and stop causing confusion among the electorate,” Alhaji Adeoti stressed.

The ADP flagbearer also used the occasion to lay to rest insinuations from certain quarters that he would dump the ADP once he wins the election and go back to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his current stay in the ADP is on permanent basis and not temporary.
