NASS Allowances: No Over Payment Says Omogbehin

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mike Omogbehin has blown hot over those rustigating National Assembly members from receiving over bloating allowances, saying, “what we receive is running grant”.

Hon. Omogbehin who is representing the good people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the Lower Chamber from Ondo state said Nigerians should be more sympathetic with NASS members from keeping their heads above board in the last two years.

While addressing members of the Correspondents Chapel at their office in Akure, Ondo state capital, the lawmaker said Nigerians should understand the distortions encountered by lawmaker once there is change of government.

According to him, out of the three arms of government, the Executive, Legislative and the Judiciary which are enshrined in the constitution, it is only the Legislative arm that suffers neglect when ever there is military coup since Independence.

He therefore urged Nigerians to stop assessing the Seven Assembly by the past which had passed 25 bills to the Presidency in two years.

His words, “no overpayment, we do not get what the public are made to understand over the social media, what we earn is running grant outside our salary, I paid for my domestic, security and personal aides within the grant”.

Earlier, Omogbehin was giving a letter of Commendation by the members of the Correspondents for what they described as Constituency project delivery.

Hon. Omogbehin it was gathered had imparted positively on the people of his Constituency in areas of education, rural health and rural integration.

While responding, the lawmaker who described the commendation letter given to him as the second one following the one earlier received from the former governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olusegun Agagu as a member of Committee for Road Map to progress promised to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
