A group of youths in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun, under the aegis of Osun Youth Resonance (OYR) has stated that Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose was ruining chances of the party in the state from taking power and government from the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola in 2018 with his romance with the state governor.

Fayose and Aregbesola

The group alleged that the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, was ruining the chances with his autterances and actions which shows he is not concern about PDP’s political growth and activities in Osun.

According to a statement signed by the group Chairman, Hon. Joshua Ayeloja and made available to CityMirrorNews in Osogbo, after the monthly meeting of the group, the group alleged that, Governor Fayose who happens to be the only PDP governor in the region is using his vintage position and the relationship he enjoys from the National Caretaker Committee of the Party, led by Sen. Ahmed Markarfi to put the chances of the party in next year gubernatorial election in a blink.

The statement reads in part, “Our hearts bleed to see the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum and the only PDP Governor in South-West region, Mr. Ayodele Fayose with his actions and utterances of ruining the chances of PDP in the next year gubernatorial election in Osun State.

“For his over 3 years reign as the governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Fayose has never for once identified with the Osun PDP how little it may be in every activities of the party being in opposition for the past 7 years. He is a regular guest of Osun State Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, However, he has never asked about the affairs of Osun PDP in all his visits to Osun.”

“During the last Osun West Senatorial By-Election where PDP under the leadership of Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo in the State recorded a landslide victory against the ruling APC that has a sitting governor, 2 sitting Senators, 7 House of Representative Members, 24 State Lawmakers out of 26, political bigwigs both in the State and at the National level.

“During the build up to the bye-election, as helpless as the Osun PDP was, Mr. Fayose never supported us not even with casual presence at any of the campaigns not to talk of any form. We worked tirelessly as a party, canvassed across the nooks and crannies of the senatorial district and we defeated the ruling government.

“A good feat for an Orphan Osun PDP. Fayose as the Chairman of PDP Governors took to the media immediately we won that election to congratulate the PDP Senator-elect and also the defeated State Governor Ogbeni Aregbesola for the conduct of successful bye-election and for allowing a level playing ground.

“What an hypocrisy? Mr. Fayose in that statement never acknowledged the roles of the State Chairman, his Working Committee, Party Elders, Leaders and Members of the party who worked hard for the victory. This may not be unconnected with unholy alliance with Governor Aregbesola of Osun.

“We are so much aware of his antics with Ogbeni Aregbesola about the next year Osun gubernatorial election, also with APC Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu allies. We believe we are up to the task to rescue ourselves from the bondage of APC in the state, that is why we never look for help as a party from anybody in the last bye-election.

“Unfortunately, the Supreme Court judgement which ruled in favour Sen. Ahmed Markarfi has placed the leadership of the party under Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo under serious pressure to be dissolved and install Fayose’s anointed candidate as the Chairman, even without congress against the wish of the generality of the party faithfuls in the State.

“All these continued until the 75th NEC Meeting of the party was pressurised to dissolve the State Working Committee of the Party in Osun and order for fresh Congress without justification. In order to reconcile all factions in the party, the National Caretaker Committee set up a Reconciliation Committee for the States in the South-West and ignorantly installed same Gov. Fayose as the Chairman. It is a known fact that it is not possible to be a judge in your own case.

“Osun is not an extension of Ekiti State, no reconciliation will be achieved with Governor Fayose as the Chairman, he is part and architect of the problem and he cannot be part of the solution, we are so much aware that Mr. Fayose-led reconciliation committee is planning to recommend expulsion of some eminent leaders of the party in Osun including our erstwhile chairman of the Party Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo who worked so hard for the victory of the party in the last bye-election.

“All these will only spell doom for PDP in the next year gubernatorial election and invariably, Osun election always give direction as to where the pendulum will swing to for National come 2019 general election.

“We now call on the National Caretaker Committee led by Sen. Ahmed Markarfi, Fmr. President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP Governors, PDP National Assembly Caucus and other PDP bigwigs across the nation to please come to our aide in Osun PDP and call Gov Ayodele Fayose to order before it is too late. Osun election is very strategic while the Southwest is very complicated to be played with.” the statement reads
