As voters registration exercise is ongoing across Nigeria, an Osogbo-born professionals under the aegis of ‘Osogbo Affairs’, have advised Nigerians on the need to maximise the advantage and get registered.

The group in a statement jointly signed by its Convener and Chairman Steering Committee, Prince Hameed Oyegbade and Mr Abdulrahman Okunade, enjoined those without PVC to stick to the opportunity.

The group who described the call as clarion, said the exercise was reawakened as part of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s constitutional duties to ensure that every Nigerian above 18 years get registered.

The group said the exercise would also open windows of opportunity to those who misplaced their cards or relocated to register and get their cards without further delay.

This, according to the group, will enable the potential participants to exercise their franchise in future elections, and avail them the opportunity to elect leaders of their choice.

“We urge every Nigerian most importantly Osogbo residents that could not register in the last voters registration exercise carried out by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to troop out in large number and exercise their civic responsibilities.

“In view of this, those that are of age are urged to take full advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration exercise and get registered.

“This will enable our people not only to exercise their  franchise during elections, but also help to have a say in the socio-political affairs of their various societies, states and so on.

“Voter’s card is perhaps the most powerful weapon of a citizen in democracy, and as such, one will be doing himself or herself a great injustice, if he or she fails to register in the ongoing registration exercise.

“It is therefore pertinent and important that every Nigerian especially Osogbo indigene that is of voting age should stick to this call in the interest of our town and Nigeria at large”, the statement reads.
