Septuagenarian Docked for Alleged Theft in Osun

A 70 year old woman, Mrs Awawu Tiamiyu , was on Wednesday arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court over alleged stealing of 2.1million naira in Iragbiji town of Osun State.
Awawu was brought before the court with six counts charge of stealing #2.4million, conspiracy, destroying a corner pies valued #648,000 and defrauding one Alhaji Saka Oyedeji of 2.1million naira pretending to sell 7 acres of land to the plaintiff.
The prosecutor, Sergent Idoko James, told the court that the suspect was arrested sometimes in January and committed the offense punishable under sections 516, 419, 467, 484 383 Vol I and 451 of Criminal code law of osun state.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the six counts charge.
The defendant’s lawyer, Mr Nalte Okobe pleaded with the court to recognize his client as a suspect that is yet to be convicted.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Fatimoh Sodamade in her ruling however granted the accused bail in the sum of N1, 000,000 and two sureties of civil servants on grade level 12 in Osun State.
Mrs Sodamade said that the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment and two passports size photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned to the 19th of June, 2017 for Hearing.
