By Michael Olanrewaju
In what appears to be like a carnival, Akure, the Ondo State capital was agog on Friday and Saturday, 11th and 12th day of November, 2016 as the matriarch of Duromola family of Owo, Princess Adetutu Comfort (Nee Adegboro) was given a befitting burial accorded the royalty in Yoruba land.
The late princess of Osupa ruling dynasty of Akure land is the mother of Prophet Dr. Duromola Adedayo Samuel (Founder and General Overseer of Christ Worshippers Church Worldwide with headquarters in Osubi, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria).
Others children of the late princess are Deaconess Caroline Olabisi Popoola, Dr. Duromola Monday Kolawole, Duromola, Michael Ilesanmi and Mrs Adelegan Funmilayo Margaret.
Families, friends, relations and members of Christ Worshippers Church in Nigeria and Diaspora in their thousands trooped out to bid her farewell as she was committed to mother earth in Oshinle, Akure.
Members of Adegboro family of Akure land as well as Duromola’s family of Owo led by Mr. Rotimi Ibidapo were in attendance for the two days events.
Apart from the fleet of cars that brought people from Delta, Bayelsa, Edo and other Niger Delta States, no fewer than 75 buses conveyed people that have come to celebrate with the family of Prophet Samuel.
At the burial ceremony before internment in Oshinle, Akure, the Primate and Archbishop of United Church of Cherubim and Seraphim Organization, Surulere Street, Aruwajoye, Owo, Ondo State, Most Rev. Tunde Ogunsemi in his sermon taking from the book of John 19; 30 tagged ”it is finished” admonished all the people to realize that death is inevitable in human life.
According to the clergy, “if you come to this world and enjoy all the pleasures therein, it will end one day. If you are a poor man and have been suffering for long, it will end one day. If you are very powerful
and belong to powerful cult, it will end one day. If you are a politician or a political godfather that put people in position of authority at will, it will end one day. In all that Jesus passed through in tribulations, etc, it all came to an end”.
He therefore charged the people to always remember the last day as all mortals would appear for judgment. Thus, he called on all to accept Christ as he quoted 11 Corinthians 5;10 which says, “all of us shall come before the throne of judgment. He added that Paul was eager in Philippians 1;23 to go to heaven and be with Christ after watching all the things in the world.
He enjoined all the people to follow the foot path of our departed mother as all have heard the exemplary life of mama.
Earlier, on Friday, the Church did a Christian wake keep and songs service for the late princess where the Minister charged the public to use their life for humanity. He called on the people present to always think of the possibility of life coming to an end suddenly saying it is a person’s handiwork that will lead one to heaven or hell.
According to the clergy, death is compulsory-whether rich or poor No matter the number of years spent on the earth, it is just few. However, everyone have a duty, no matter what our gift is to make profit as we are still alive by touching the lives of others. Therefore, it is great to give joy at least unto a man daily.
The reception was a display of cultural diversity as colourful songs and dance steps of different cultural troops from Owo, Ondo State, Ijaw troops from Bayelsa, Urhobo, Isoko, Itsekiri, Ishan, Bini and others entertained the mammoth crowd that would continue to linger in the memories of the people of Akure that a royal princess of the land was celebrated in death in such a powerful way.
In their tributes, all the children eulogized their late mother as an epitome of all the good attributes of good motherhood.
They described their mother as loving, caring, disciplined, virtuous, persevering, generous and God fearing woman during her time.
