Delta Commissioner’s Aide Arrested Over Death Of Deputy Director

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested an aide to the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, in connection with the death of a Deputy Director in the ministry, Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda.

The suspect, identified as Lucky Adoh, was arrested following complaints over an incident that occurred at the Commissioner’s office in Asaba, Delta State.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest, said two other persons allegedly linked to the incident, Enos Attah and Oputa Okestine, were currently being sought by the police.

According to Edafe, the deceased died following the incident at the commissioner’s office, amid allegations that he was physically assaulted by some aides to the commissioner.

“The Command has also taken note of allegations suggesting that he was physically assaulted by aides to the Commissioner identified as Enos Attah, Oputa Okestine, and Lucky Adoh,” he said.

Edafe said the police swung into action after receiving complaints over the incident, leading to the arrest of Adoh, while efforts were intensified to apprehend the two other suspects.

He added that the Commissioner of Police had directed the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the subsequent death of the deceased.

The police spokesperson said the investigation would examine available evidence, including video footage, eyewitness accounts, medical records and the actions of all persons connected with the incident.

He said the objective was to establish the facts surrounding the case and ensure that anyone found culpable was brought to justice in accordance with the law.

Edafe assured the public that the command would neither shield nor spare anyone found culpable, regardless of status or position, promising that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
