Man Docked For Allegedly Stealing Church’s Generator

A 30-year old man, Babatunde Gbenga has been arraigned before an Iwaro-Oka Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a generator valued at N515,000, being property of St. Clara Catholic Church Owalusi, lwaro Oka Akoko, Ondo State.
The police arraigned the defendant before Magistrate B. A Ikusika, on a two-count charge bordering on stealing.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on May 15, 2024, at about 12pm at St. Clara Catholic Church Owalusi, lwaro Oka Akoko, Ondo State.
The prosecutor, Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant stole one Generator Amature, valued at N100,000 only, property of St. Clara Catholic Church Owalusi, lwaro- Oka Akoko.
He also alleged that the defendant broke into the church and stole the following items: one Alternator, one Kick Start of SP 18 Mikano Generator, one Smartek 3800E2 Portable Generator Engine, total value at N415,000.
The offences contravened Sections 383 (1), 410 of the Criminal, Code Cap. 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Boboye prayed for an adjournment to enable him study the case file.
Counsel to the defendant, Ikare Lawrence, did not oppose the application made by the prosecutor.
In his ruling, Magistrate B. A Ikusika adjouned the case, as trial continues.
