Wembley Sexual Predator Makwana Jailed For Raping Two Teenage Girls

A 42-year-old man from Wembley has been sentenced to nine years in prison for raping two teenage girls he met on Snapchat.

Himanshu Makwana posed as a young man on social media to prey on his victims, using strikingly similar tactics in both attacks, which occurred four years apart.

According to Met Police, the first victim, 18 years old at the time, was raped in an empty office block in 2019. The offence was reported, but no suspect was identified until later.

The second victim, who had just turned 16, was raped in an empty commercial premises in April 2023.

Makwana used a fake identity, ‘Samir,’ and locked the victim in his car before committing the crime.

Makwana’s arrest was made possible by a witness who captured an image of the car used in the second incident.

Analysis of a DNA sample taken during his arrest linked him to the 2019 crime.

He will serve an additional four years on extended licence and register as a sex offender for life.

Detective Constable Lewis Jelley praised the bravery of the two victims who came forward, saying their courage was instrumental in bringing Makwana to justice.

“Makwana posed as a young man on social media in order to prey on young girls. He carried out a horrific attack on one woman, and then did the same thing again a few years later.”

The investigation was led by specialist detectives at the Metropolitan Police Service. The police emphasized the importance of online safety and urged parents and guardians to monitor their children’s social media activities.

The case has raised concerns about the safety of social media platforms and the need for increased vigilance to prevent online grooming and exploitation.
