Hashim Urges Accord Members To Stay Loyal, Mobilise For Osun Governorship Election

The Presidential Candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has called on members and supporters of the party in Osun State to remain united, loyal and committed to securing victory in the August 15 governorship election despite the party’s internal challenges.

Hashim made the appeal after receiving the report of a seven-member committee of Accord Party stakeholders in Osun State, which was constituted to assess recent political developments and the state of the party following consultations with members across the state.

Addressing party faithful, the Accord presidential candidate urged members not to allow the actions of a few individuals to weaken the party’s resolve, stressing that the future of the Accord Party in Osun depends on the loyalty, commitment and hard work of its members.

He also cautioned members against engaging in anti-party activities, insisting that the party’s ideals and long-term vision are greater than the interests of any individual.

Hashim described the recent actions of Governor Ademola Adeleke as an act of disloyalty to the Accord Party but maintained that he would not retaliate in a manner that could undermine the party’s electoral chances in the state.

According to him, “Governor Ademola Adeleke has obviously acted as a disloyal party man, but I will not respond by engaging in anti-party activities in Osun. Two wrongs do not make a right.”

He said his approach to politics is guided by principle, democratic values and his Christian faith rather than bitterness or revenge, adding that he has chosen restraint despite the developments.

Hashim further suggested that the Adeleke family’s recent political decisions may have been influenced by circumstances not fully known to the public. He said, “The Adeleke family is under pressure that many people do not understand. Supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu despite the political pressure the APC has mounted against them is one such example. I am not angry with them; I pity them.”

The former presidential candidate reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the Accord Party in Osun and across the country, urging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the governorship election. He also expressed appreciation to party elders, stakeholders and supporters who have remained steadfast in advancing the party’s ideals despite prevailing political pressures.

Hashim assured members that their sacrifices would not be in vain, stressing that the future of the Accord Party rests on the dedication of committed members. He also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure a level playing field during the Osun governorship election, describing the poll as a critical test of Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, “The Osun State election is the major off-season election before 2027. What happens will tell everyone what INEC and Nigeria’s security agencies plan to do in 2027. The world is watching.”

Hashim’s remarks come amid lingering disagreements between his supporters and Governor Adeleke over the governor’s repeated endorsement of President Tinubu, the presidential candidate of a rival political party.
