Bandits Kill Four Soldiers, Abduct 70 Residents In Zamfara

No fewer than 70 person were reportedly abducted on Saturday during a deadly attack on Kasuwar-Daji community in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State by suspected bandits.

CityMirrorNews gathered that four soldiers were also killed, as the bandits over run a military outpost in the area.

The attack, which reportedly occurred on Saturday night, was disclosed by security analyst and conflict reporter Bakatsine in a post shared on his verified X handle on Sunday.

According to the report, the armed attackers overwhelmed troops stationed at a military outpost in the community.

Four soldiers were reportedly killed during the exchange, while several others sustained injuries.

The assailants were also said to have set ablaze a military Hilux vehicle and soldiers’ accommodation before reinforcements from Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, arrived at the scene.

After attacking the military position, the gunmen allegedly moved into the community, where they abducted about 70 residents, most of them women and children. Several shops were also reportedly looted before the attackers fled.

Reacting to the incident, Bakatsine described the attack as another devastating blow to communities already battling persistent insecurity.

He wrote: “SAD NEWS: Last night, bandits launched a deadly attack on Kasuwar-daji community in Kaura Namoda LGA of Zamfara State.

“The attackers reportedly overran a military outpost, killing four soldiers, injuring others, and setting a military Hilux vehicle and soldiers accommodation on fire before reinforcements arrived from Gusau.

“They then stormed the community, abducting about 70 people mostly women and children and looted several shops before fleeing.

“This is another heartbreaking tragedy for families already living under constant fear. How many more innocent lives must be torn apart before our rural communities are truly protected?”

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigerian Army nor the Zamfara State Government had issued an official statement confirming or responding to the reported attack.
