Surety In Trouble As Accused Jumps Bail

A Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital has ordered the remand of a 43-year-old man in ilesa correctional centre for failure to provide the accused he stood for in a case at the state high court.

The accused, Dele Abiodun were said to have stood as surety for one Femi Abiodun on October,10, 2017 at High court of justice Osogbo in charge number HOS/46/2014

The prosecutor, ASP Idoko John told the court that the defendant promised to produce the accused in the court till the case is disposed

The defendant pleaded not guilty to one count-charge allegation slammed against him.

The offence according to the Prosecutor contravened Section 126(1) Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State, 2002.

Defence Counsel, R. A Ngwu urged the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term.

In a swift reaction, the prosecutor opposed the bail of the defendant, he told the court that the suspect did not reside in the magisterial district.

He further explained that in the course of their investigation, they discovered that the defendant was initially residing in Ekiti state before he later relocated to Lagos state.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr O. O Oladoke ordered the remand of the accused in ilesa correctional center.

He thereafter, adjourned the matter till March, 31,2020 for ruling on bail.
