Ife Crisis: JODER Alerts Security Agencies on Planned Revenge Attack
For the second time in two weeks, a media practitioner group has alerted the security agencies on some armed groups who are planning revenge attack on the clash between Hausa and Yoruba people in Ile-Ife, Osun state.
The group, Journalist for Democratic Rights (JODER) called the attention of the security agencies to two videos being circulated across the country calling for revenge.
JODER observed that since the March 7 crisis, there had been tension and that the disputants were desperately waiting for an opportunity to renew hostilities.
According to JODER, in a press statement issued and signed by Assistant Programme Officer, Mr Akinwale Kasali at the weekend, the ‘hate’ videos were being circulated to create sense of siege that will spur violence.
JODER said: “There are two dangerous video clips in circulation. The two of them are being circulated mostly in northern parts of the country calling on Muslims to rise up and revenge.
The group said the video clips were sent to JODER by northerners working with JODER on peace-building across the country.
