Court Remands Man For Alleged N7M Land Fraud In Osun
An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo the capital of Osun has ordered the remands of a 47- year-Old man Akinloye Taofeek Ayofe in an Ilesha correctional center for alleged N7million land fraud, CityMirror News Report.
Taofeek was arraigned on Wednesday before Magistrate’s Dr Segun Ayilara on a three count charge bordering on conspiracy felony to wit obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
Briefing the court, the prosecutor Inspector Olusegun Elisha said the defendant committed the offence between August and November 2022 at Osogbo.
Elisha explained that the defendant and others now at large fraudulently obtained the sum of seven million naira (#7,000,000:00k) from one Olanrewaju Asimiyu with the pretence of assisting him to purchase two plots of land in Osogbo.
He added that the defendant also stolen seven million naira.
According to the prosecutor, the offence is punishable under section 422 , 419, 516, 383 and 390(9)of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the three count but latter said he has paid part of the money to the complainant and that he used the remaining money to purchased car.
Upon hearing from the defendant, The magistrate, Dr Ayilara in his ruling ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison
The case was adjourned to December 3oth for ruling on bail.
