Osun CIPM Organises Annual Public Lecture, As Experts Call For A Purpose Driven Public Service
Professionals in the field of Human Resource Management have called for a purpose-driven public service towards enhancing social, economic and political development of the country.
These calls were made during the annual public lecture of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) Osun State Branch held on
Wednesday, 9th November 2022, at the NUJ Press Centre, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria, entitled: “Purpose-Driven Public Service: A Critical Factor in Efficient and Effective Public Service in a Depressed Economy” .
Welcoming participants at the event, the Chairman, CIPM Osun State Branch, Mr. Olusegun O. Ajiboye, MCIPM stated that the annual public lecture is part of the prime activities of the branch aimed at contributing to knowledge and capacity development of its members and members of the public in general.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. S. O. Laluwoye, MCIPM, mni who is a retired Permanent Secretary in Osun State and the two (2) Panel Discussants (Dr. Lekan Yusuff, MCIPM and Mrs. Grace Akinwale, ACIPM) all spoke on the benefits of a purpose-driven public service and the critical roles Human Resource Managers can play in ensuring and improving the standards of service delivery by the Public service sector.
Addressing participants at the event, Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, FCIPM, the President and Chairman of CIPM who participated at the programme virtually, noted that the topic for the lecture was apt in the face of global ups and downs confronting nations of the world.
He added that for some years now, the CIPM has been involved in a campaign to ensure professionalism and capacity development of the Public Service sector which is the largest employer of people in Nigeria.
He also noted that purpose-driven initiatives leading to effectiveness in the public lecture are vital because the Public Service operates for the benefits of all with the major roles of formulating and executing Government policies.
The Lecture had in attendance, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, HRM, Oba AbdulRasheed Olatunde Olabomi, the Odundun IV who is Fellow of the Institute, Professor Roseline Ojokuku, an expert in public administration and many other important personalities.
