Rooney to quit United
Wayne Rooney’s trophy-laden spell at Manchester United could be coming to an end with the captain struggling for first-team football under Jose Mourinho this season.
After arriving from the Goodison Park outfit for £27million in 2004, the England captain has enjoyed great success in Manchester and has helped the club secure five Premier League titles, a Champions League triumph and victory in last season’s FA Cup final.
The forward also enjoyed personal glory this season when his stunning free-kick against Stoke City saw him score his 250th United goal to break Sir Bobby Charlton’s club record.
But his first-team opportunities have been hard to come by under Mourinho and the experienced 31-year-old star is considering his next move, with a big-money transfer to China among the options.
