Oyo Residents Pray for Safe Return of Buhari
Residents of Oyo State on Tuesday gathered at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan to pray for the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari and the turn around of the political, socio-economic development of the country.
Those at the prayer meeting include members of various political parties, as well as clerics from both the Islamic and Christian faiths in the state.
Aside the numerous number of clerics, religious musicians from both the Christian and the muslim faithfuls were also on hand to add colour to the event
In their separate prayers, an Islamic Cleric and preacher, Sheik Muhideen Ajani-Bello and Apostle Sunday Popoola, of the Word Communication Ministriees (WOCOM), enjoined the people not to loose faith in the country or the present political administration.
They further called for peace and support of the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, noting that regular prayers for the political leaders would go a long way in turning things around for the good of the country
The State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi in his remarks noted that the prayer programme was more than a prayer session for President Buhari’s recovery alone but for the entire country to prosper and allow peace reign.
He expressed confident that the nation was getting better and things were improving by the day as the international price of crude was already improving.
He assured that within the next three to six months, things would have stabilised.
He said: “This event is organised for three reasons. First, it is to appreciate God for all he has done for us so that he can do more.
“Secondly, we are here to seek God’s guidance as to how to lead this nation. And thirdly, it is to pray for the sound health of our President, vice President, leaders of the National Assembly and all our leaders both at the National and state level.
“I pray that the country will continue to progress. The prayer is not for Buhari alone but for all of us as the leaders and the led. It is not fair for anybody to wish another person death.
“Nigeria is getting better. The crude oil price has increased tremendously in the international market and I know for sure that within the next three to six months, things will have improved lot more. Let us all just work more together.”
Dignitaries at the event include, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, representatives of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji and Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola, among others.
