2022 Hajj: NAHCON Allocates 460 Seats To Osun
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria ( NAHCON) has put in place all necessary arrangements to make the holy journey to Makkah and Madina a hitch free.
This is coming as authorities of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia has said this year 2022 Hajj operation will hold as planned.
To this end, the Commission has allocated only 460 seats to the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for its intending pilgrims.
The Secretary of the Board,Mr Bolaji Sanni disclosed this while briefing top management staff of the Board in his office on the outcome of the meeting with the Chief Executives of States Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Commissions and Agencies all over Nigeria with NAHCON executives in Abuja.
Against this backdrop, Sanni advised intending pilgrims from Osun who had earlier made deposits in respect of the Hajj operations to ensure that each of them has a minimum deposits of at least N2.5 Million naira before the final pronouncement of what the approved hajj fare would be for this year.
In view of the current realities on ground, he observed that the total hall fare for this year’s hajj is projected to be a little bit above N2.5m
He explained that in order not to be found wanting ,he called on all the intending Pilgrims from the state to top up their deposits with the board
before the official pronouncement of what the hajj fare would be for the intending pilgrims by NAHCON.
Regarding what the Board has put in place on the selection exercise in the state for would- be pilgrims, Sanni assured all who have earlier made their deposits with the Board that justice and fairness in line with the mandate received from the Governor would be strictly observed and adhered to.
He added that *only those contacted by his board through a transparent process would be mobilized to perform the pilgrimage this year*, maintaining that the principle of first come,first served would also be rigorously adopted .
According to Mr Sanni,there will also be a strict compliance with the officially approved age limit of Sixty-five for both male and female intending pilgrims .
It would be recalled that due to Covid 19 pandemic ,millions of pilgrims all over the world could not take part in the annual hajj operations for the past two years as a result of the embargo placed on the
spiritual exercise by the Saudi Arabian government all over the world for intending pilgrims to curb the spread of the dreaded Corona Virus pandemic.
Having been satisfied with the current low level situation about Covid 19 all over the world, the Saudi Arabian government recently announced its readiness to host the world for the year 2022 Hajj exercise
