Insecurity: Be Vigilant– Don Charges Students

The Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Prof. Amidu Sanni, has charged students to always report strange movements and unfamiliar faces they notice to their hostel managers or security personnel.

Sanni gave the charge during the Fountain University 2021/2022 matriculation ceremony in Osogbo, where he said 350 students were offered provisional admission by the university for the academic year.
He said, “the security challenges across the country, which has found expression in kidnapping or ritual killing, human trafficking, sexual abuses, havoc by secret or cultists groups demand greater vigilance by all.”
He equally charge the students to be a good ambassador of their family and the school, saying the institution, as a faith based school, frowns at indecent dressing and other social vices.
“As faith-oriented institution, we do not tolerate indecent dressing, so you must adhere strictly to our dress code which include conspicuous wearing your University valid Identity card at all times when you are on campus.
“Please note that this university place a very high premium on good moral and applies measured and appropriate sanctions against all act of indiscipline, including absenteeism from class or university event, physically assault, substance abuse, unauthorised outing from the University, insubordination and all form of examination malpractices or membership of unapproved societies.
“Outright dismissal and public display of such law breakers are normally done. So do not bring disgrace to yourself and your family.
“Justify the investment of your parents in your future by facing your study squarely to ensure you come out in flying colours at the end of your studies.” he said
The VC said just as sanctions are melted out for bad behavior, good behaviour is also noted and rewarded by the school management, as 29 students are being offered a year scholarship (which covers tuition fee) for 2021/22 academic year.
He charged the students to be focused on their studies asking them to report to Students Affairs Unit or elected student representatives whenever anyone of them feel threatened or perceive that something is not going well in his or her academics or personal life (NAN)
