‘Be Mindful Of What You Say In Public’, Osun PDP Warns Party’s Guber Aspirants
Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned Governorship Aspirants on its platform to desist from making public comments capable of bringing the party to unnecessary disrepute, especially when such Aspirant(s) lack adequate background knowledge of their comment.
The PDP through its publicity secretary, Ayodeji Areola on Wednesday frowned at what the party described as uncharitable utterances of one of its gubernatorial Aspirants, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi on a radio program in Osogbo, regarding recent developments in the party
Ayodeji Areola advised Dr Akin Ogunbiyi and others with likely inadequate knowledge about workings of the PDP to seek clarifications or informations that may understandably go beyond their grasp instead of going on air to mislead members of the public with inflammatory utterances, thereby subjecting the party to undeserved ridicule.
The PDP expects Dr Ogunbiyi to live up to his professed high standing by mentioning names of members of the State Executive Committee known to him for instance, whose names he alluded on radio, appeared among the signatories endorsing yesterday’s resolutions of the party but were out of the country. This would have portrayed him high above school boy stance known with some pedestrian politicians.
According to Areola, incessant disparaging of activities of the party or other Aspirants on the platform of the PDP will no longer be tolerated by the State Working Committee constitutionally saddled with overseeing affairs of the party in Osun State.
“The PDP in our dear state has suffered enough from misguided public misrepresentation of its activities coupled with acts of disguised sabotage and we at the State Working Committee level will no longer sit by and watch culprits drag the party down”
“The PDP urges all Aspirants in it’s fold to go about their subtle campaigns without injuring the same platform on which they intend to realize their ambition”
“We wish to remind all our Aspirants that the overall goal of the party to win the forthcoming Governorship Election in the state is paramount and nobody, no matter the status will be allowed to subject that to avoidable jeopardy”
“Therefore, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi and all other contestants are advised to conduct themselves with outmost diligence, in line with rules of the game and and constitution of our great party”
