The Fiscal Responsibility Commission ( FRC), says the recent post audit tour of inspection of projects in Osun is to assess the value for the money provided by the Federal Government .

Mrs Victoria Adiwu, the Commission’s Team lead for the South-West Zone, dropped the hint during her post audit tour of some project sites on Wednesday in Osogbo.

She said that huge sums of money was spent by the Federal Government  for the rehabilitation and upgrading of some water and health facilities which included the Obafemi Awolowo University water facilities, Phases 1 and 2.

According to her, the beneficiaries’ commendation during the tour was encouraging, which indicated that the OAU water rehabilitation and upgrade project was a welcome development.

” I will say that the project is 80 per cent satisfactory with the feedback from the end users, despite some little challenges.

” It is a 15 month duration project and it was awarded to Ceylon Construction Limited  sometimes in Jan. 2019, but it was finished and handed over in Sept. 2021,” Adiwu noted.

The places visited by the team included, the Opa Dam at Obafemi Awolowo University, buster stations, reservoir and treatment plants.

Other places visited were the Ile-Ife water Dam and the OAU Teaching Hospital.

The Fiscal Responsibility Commission Team Lead noted that the project under construction at Ile-Ife Dam, was yet to be completed due to some challenges.

The FRC team further visited the Cardiac Center in Ile-Ife and inspected completed building projects that were under construction.

The Team leader noted that the Cardiac Center would boost Cardiac Care in Nigeria, when the building was well equipped.

The team visited the construction site of the Theatre Arts Complex at Ilesa and inspected other ongoing work, which was 48 per cent completed.

Adiwu, while lamenting slow pace of work on the project, urged the engineers to ensure speed in completing the project.

The Team also visited the completed male and female surgical wards that were under construction, as well as the dental care units.

She commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Commission’s head, Mr Victor Muruako for ensuring the completion of most of the projects and their handing over.

” I want to say, money was not the challenge because it was released to the contractors by the Federal Government, but they have been able to overcome the little hiccups in the completion of some  of the projects,” she added.

Adiwu, however, stressed that the commission would continue to ensure that revenue generation  policies, resource allocation and debt management decisions were adopted in a prudent and transparent manner.
