New Year Gesture: Omisore Visits Hospital, Clears Bill for Patients
The Governorship candidate of People Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2014 governorship election in Osun state, Senator Iyiola Omisore has offset hospital bill for all the patients that are being delayed due to their inability to pay hospital bill at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife.
The former Deputy-Governor of Osun State, who visited the hospital in the spirit of New Year, also presented gifts to the patients that are still on treatment bed.
Those that got the payment gesture are patients that have been discharged since April, May 2016 but could not afford the bill, charged them by the hospital.
The former Chairman, Appropriation Committee of the Senate, who arrived the Teaching Hospitals at 7:00 am on New Year day, was received by the Chief Medical Director of the Hospitals, Prof. Victor Adetiloye and others top management staff.
He canvassed that wealthy, philanthropist and good spirited peoples in the society should partner with hospitals to provide the needful services to the populace because the existing infrastructures put in place in the 70’s when the country’s population was less than 50 million is what is still in use now that our population is over 180 million.
Sympathizing with the patients, Omisore said “nobody wishes to celebrate the first day of the year in an Hospitals, but because of situation beyond control.
He was particularly touched by a patient whose left leg was amputated and his right
leg seriously injured based on the accident he had with a trailer whose brake had failed and rammed into his car on Akure-Ife Road.
He implored spirited peoples to partner with the Hospitals on Public Private Partnership (PPP) in order for them to keep delivering on their services.
Appreciating Omisore for his gesture, Chief Medical Director, OAUTHC, Ile-Ife, Prof. Victor Adetiloye, said more of Omisore’s caliber is needed in the society to help the underprivileged.
He explained that many of the detained patients have been certified okay since April, May last year but don’t have money to pay. Many are waiting for today because they know Sen. Omisore will be here to pay their outstanding bills.
Adetiloye said, this Hospitals is international “because of major feat we are recording here.
“We have successfully performed fourteen open heart surgery( first of its kind in the country). But the Hospitals needs new building that will makes it look attractive.
He thanked Sen. Omisore for the assistance rendered to the Hospitals during his tenure as Senator of the Federal Republic where many buildings facilities dotted the Hospitals.
Also, Sen Omisore visited Covenant Orphanage & Welfare Homes in Moro, Ife North LG where he gave those gifts items.
The yearly visit to Hospitals and Orphanage by Sen.Iyiola Omisore started in the year 2008.
