Just In: Hoodlums Attack Amotekun officers, Four Injured, Hospitalised
At least four officers of the Southwest Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun have been hospitalized in Oyo State, Topnaija reports.
Confirming the incident, Amotekun Commandant in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) said the operatives were attacked by some hoodlums in Ona Ara Local Government area on Friday.
The attack led to various degrees of injuries before the four operatives were rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The officers went to the area following a distress call by Odeyale Community Landlord Association to help dislodge hoodlums perpetrating violence in the community.
Olayanju said the operatives were attacked with machetes and axes, adding that four of them with severe injuries were currently receiving treatment at the ICU of the UCH.
He said the corps has commenced investigation into the incident.
Recall that a leader of Amotekun in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, Tajudeen Salaudeen, recently died in a road accident.
