Yoruba Group Drums Support for AD, Oke Says a Win For Akeredolu is a Win For Northern Oligarchy
A Yoruba group, Yoruba Nation Youth Alliance, YONAYA, has posited that any possible win by the All Progress Congress, (APC) candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, in the upcoming Ondo state Governorship Election, would be a win against the interest of Yoruba race.
The group stressed that if Akeredolu eventually emerged victorious, such a victory could be best described as a victory for the northern oligarch, who according to them, are hell-bent on enforcing and imposing their political interest on Yoruba people.
In a statement released by its Secretary, Comrade Oladele Adebayo in Osogbo on Friday, YONAYA described the whole scenario trailing Akeredolu’s emergence as APC flag bearer as disgusting, saying it betrayed the trust reposed in APC and his change mantra by the young men and women in the Yoruba nation.
He called on all Yoruba, the traditional rulers, the old, the young, men, women, clerics and other well wishers of Yoruba nation, to rise up against what he described as “injustice that is about to be meted out to their noble race in the power struggle within a disappointing party called APC.
“You will recall that the fraudulent act through which Akeredolu emerged as APC governorship candidate after its primary in Ondo was perpetrated by Jigawa State Governor anchored by Mr. Nasir Elrufai of Kaduna State with the help of some perceived cabals in the presidency using the good name of President Mohammadu Buhari to cause chaos in the South West APC for their selfish agenda using Messrs Babatunde Fashola, Kayode Fayemi and Ibikunle Amosun as tools in hands to destroy the growth and progress of Yoruba race.
He further said: “Should Akeredolu wins (God forbids) that will be a win for the Elrufai, Babachir Lawal, Jigawa state governor and other northern oligarchs who are not happy with the pace of developments in the Yoruba race because of high level of underdevelopments in the north despite their high presence and patronage in government since independence”.
YONAYA Secretary General then called on the people of Yoruba land as gallant soldiers who love the Yoruba nation to rise up and resist this act of these enemies of Yoruba’s progress and growth irrespective of religious background or Political Interest.
“We are calling on our people to join us in stopping these enemies of Yoruba nation and rise up in defence of the independence of Yoruba nation so that we don’t allow the northern oligarchs to enslave us the second time and we are also appealing to President Buhari to call these men to order so as to stop their plans to disrupt the peace of the Yoruba nation which supported him in his 2015 election quest’’
Adebayo then urged the people of Ondo State to come out and vote massively for the Alliance for Democracy; AD its candidate, Olusola Oke because they will continue good governance in the state from where it stopped during core progressive governments of Ajasin and Adefarati.
