Laide Raheen, Sun Correspondent Emerges Chairman NUJ Correspondents’Chapel In Ogun

Laide Raheem of the Sun newspapers on Wednesday emerged Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) ,Ogun State.

Raheem polled 17 votes to defeat Razaq Ayinla of Business Day, who polled 12 votes.

Other contestants who emerged winners unopposed were Sulaimon Fasasi of Daily Independent (Secretary), Ernest Nwokolo of the Nation (Treasurer) and Bankole Taiwo of News Direct (Asst. Secretary) with James Ogunnaike of Vanguard emerging as Vice Chairman.

They were thereafter administered oath of office by Barr. Abdulrahamon Adejola

Speaking after his inauguration,
the newly elected Chairman, Raheem, said that his victory belonged to God and equally dedicated the victory to all the members of the Chapel.

He added that the contest should be seen by all as no victory no vanquished, calling for the support and cooperation of the chapel members.

Raheem, however, promised to work for the unity and progress of the Chapel, submitting that welfare of members, renovation of the secretariat, repositioning the chapel among others would form the fulcrum of his administration.
