NUJ Tasks Buhari On Implementation Of New Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, has called for timely and judicious use of the funds recently approved by the federal government to upgrade  equipment at federal media organizations.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its monthly meeting in Akure, Ondo state capital and signed by the state Secretary Prince Leke Adegbite.

The organizations include: the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) , Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).

The union however advised the management of the federal media agencies to ensure that Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM, Akure as well as NTA stations in Akure, Ikare-Akoko and Okitipupa benefit from the equipment upgrading projects.

NUJ also charged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently sign into law for implementation the minimum wage bill passed by the National Assembly, to boost purchasing powers of Nigeria’s workers.

The union condemned the brutal killing of the Akure Anglican Diocese Bursar, Mr Gabriel Kolawole Abiodun on Thursday in Akure by suspected armed robbers, who also allegedly attacked a government’s Paymaster,

In view of this, the union however pleaded with security agencies to up their games against criminals in the state.

NUJ tasked its state leadership to intervene in the plight of Orange FM staff who were allegedly facing tough times from the management.
