People from the eleven wards of Ila local government came out to receive medical care which was held at Omowumi Akande Health Centre, Isedo 1, Ila-orangun

The beneficiaries were treated for various illnesses, received eye-care service diabetes, hypertension, body pain and assisted with minor surgeries.

In a interview with messmen during the exercise, Mrs Temitope Ilori, who is also a medical doctor and daughter to the late former Osun State first lady said the free medical service for the less privileged in the town was to mark the first anniversary of the passing away of their mother.

Mrs Ilori described the late Mrs Akande who was then a nurse as a passionate person who was always concerned about the health of children and women during her life time.

She further explained that her undying passion for good and affordable medical care for the needy was the reason why the children decided to continue her legacy by organizing such a programme for those with challenges in diabetes, hypertension, body pain among others.

She urged Nigerians to take their health serious adding that visiting the hospital for periodic medical screening is expedient.

The ex-Osun Commissioner for Health also charged the well to do in the society to assist the government by investing in health which will be of benefit to the needy.

One of the beneficiaries of the free medical service, Babalola Sikiru described the decision taken by the children of the late Mrs Akande in organizing the programme as a way of enhancing healthy living in the society adding that both the young and old have benefited from it.
