Osun NSCDC Deploys 1,500 Corps Ahead Yuletide Celebration, States One Year Achievements
The commandant, Nigeria security and civil defence corps, Osun Command has said that over 1,500 corps have been deployed in the state to ensure a hitch free yuletide celebration.
The state commandant, Ebenezer Aboluwoye made this known on Monday, during a press briefing held to inform the public, the activities and operation of the commission over the last one year.
In his address, commandant Aboluwoye assured the people of the state of a hitch free Christmas celebration, adding that adequate security arrangement has been put in place to protect lives and properties during the celebration.
Addressing the press on various activities and achievements of the commission on fraud cases, crises management, critical national assets and infrastructure, peace and conflict resolution, Fulani herdsmen and farmers clashes, among others, over the last one year, Commandant Aboluwoye said the commission has performed excellently in these regards.
Commandant Aboluwoye disclosed that the commission has succeeded in tackling several ritual cases, oil vandalization, curbed fuel inflation, maintenance of orderliness during jamb and NECO examinations, sealing of unlicenced pharmaceutical shops, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure such as IBEDC installation, Osun Water corporation pipelines, among others.
Speaking on the commission’s effort in regulating the number of private guard company in Osun State, Aboluwoye said the commission will not condole the operation of any unregistered private guard company in the state.
He added that, between first and eighth of August, the department of private guard company of the commission organised a week training program for all the PGC across the state out of which twelve (12) private guard companies with seventy (70) guards participated, adding that a total of two million, six hundred and thirty eight thousand, three hundred and fifteen naira (#2,638,315) paid by the PGC for appropriate registration was remitted to the federal government.
Speaking on the role of the commission on peace and conflict resolution, commandant Aboluwoye said, out of over Seventy (70) conflicts reported to the conflict resolution unit of the commission, fifty nine (59) were fully resolved while eleven (11) are still pending.
Assessing the activities of the commission in fighting fraud activities in the state in the last one year, Commandant Aboluwoye said a total of 128 fraud cases were treated by the state command while 24 were handled by divisions, out of which Six million, seven hundred and forty two thousand, four hundred and twenty naira (#6,742,420) was recovered.
In their key note address, the Deputy commandant, Asebele Ezekiel and Deputy Commandant, and HOD Intelligence state command, Majekodunmi Abidemi said the commission will not relent in its effort to ensure a society free of insecurity.
Commandant Aboluwoye therefore appealed to the public to be vigilant and make available any security information to the Corps as well as report any suspicious movement in their respective domain during and after the Yuletide celebration.
