NSCDC Officer Crushes Two Siblings To Death In Akure

It was a tragedy in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Wednesday, as an officer of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) allegedly crushed a commercial motorcyclist to death.
The sad development forced the commercial motorcyclists in the town to joined the protest over the death of the colleague which led to the shutting down of all the business and commercial activities on the Oba Adesida road as the angry protesters made heavy bonfire to cause traffic gridlock.
It was learnt that the cyclist was crushed in a fatal accident that occurred along the Ondo road in the state capital.
The protesters also forced taxi drivers to stop their transport business as they all marched to the office of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps registered their anger.
Our correspondent learned that the elder sister to the dead cyclist who also join in the demonstration was allegedly killed by a gun shot.
When our Correspondent visited the scene of the incident, many of the protesting commercial cyclists were sighted moving round with the corpses of the deceased to show anger.
The spokesman of the NSCDC in the state, Mr. Oladipo Samuel confirmed the sad accident saying that the NSCDC officer who crushed the commercial cyclist came from Abuja for an exam.
His words, “The accident occurred yesterday, it was an officer from the Command’s Office in Abuja who came for an examination that caused it.
“This officer was traveling on Ondo road when the Okadaman with two other passengers drove passed him and they were crushed down.
“They were immediately rushed to the State Hospital for treatment and the Officer had to pay the hospital’s bills before leaving there.
“However, we heard today that one of them (Okadaman) died Tuesday morning inside the hospital and this forced his colleagues to protest in the state”.
It took the effort of the men of the 32 Artillery of the Nigerian Army in Akure to restore normalcy to the town as the youths were repelled.
