Governors Praise Ooni For Promoting Yoruba Culture Worldwide
The Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun and his colleague from Ondo state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu at the weekend lauded the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi for promoting Yoruba culture across the globe.
The duo spoke in Ile-Ife at the unveiling of a book Moremi Ajansoro packaged by the House of Oduduwa Foundation and the Institute of African Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, written in honour of the wife of Ogun state Mrs Funsho Amosun.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the event, Oba Olusola Alao, Olugbon of Ile’Gbon posited that Moremi set the pace for women participation in governance.
Oba Alao who suggested 45% of women in leadership positions tasked women to come out in large number to lead adding that women are good administrators.
Speaking, the Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, promised to always support initiative that will foster unity and promote Yoruba culture and tradition noting that Moremi deserves to be celebrated because of virtues of dedication and selflessness she employed to rescue her people.
Speaking in similar vein, Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, urged people of the race to unite to keep the culture alive, admitting that Yoruba culture is under threat of extinction.
Addressing the gathering, Oba Ogunwusi said the book Moremi Ajansoro, was written to celebrate her heroics, as well as, keep the role she played in saving Yoruba land from invaders for future reference and celebrate wife of Ogun state governor, Mrs Funso Amosun.
The royal fathers then urged younger generation women in the country to emulate virtues of humility, selflessness and dedication of Mrs. Amosun.
“Mrs. Amosun is being honoured with the book because we can see in her virtues that set apart Moremi from other women of her era. We pray for her the strength to do more exploit”, Ooni concluded .
In her response, Mrs Amosun expressed her appreciation to Oba Oguwusi and pledged to continue to promote Yoruba culture.
