Good Governance: Shun Culture Of indifference And Hold Your Elected Representatives Accountable-JDPMC
A project Consultant and good Governance Expert of Justice Development Peace Makers’ Centre, Osogbo Diocese, Mr. Dare Adeoye has charged Nigerians most especially Community Leaders and Members to shun culture of indifference but rather always hold their elected Representatives accountable in various serving Capacities in the Country.
Mr.Adeoye disclosed this at the inauguration of new good Governance Committee Members organized by the department of good Governance of Justice Development Peace Makers’ Centre in Osogbo.
Addressing the new Members from five selected Local Government Areas which was in addition to the existing twenty Local Government Areas of Osun State with a theme “Community Development; Duties of the Government and the Citizens”. Mr. Adeoye noted that Community Development participation is an involvement of every individual’s potential contributions to the enhancement of good Governance with core values of useful area of Hunan’s interventions, regular heart to heart dialogues and holistic approaches.
He said ” Good Governance is a collective business and combined efforts of every member in a Community which must be sustained by full participation of individual’s potential Interventions and without fear or favour.”
Adeoye further said that playing indifference to good Governance by Members of the Community could be tagged as great misfortune and worst hazards to Nation’s Democracy of which must be eschewed by Nigerians.
He also stressed the need for all Community Leaders and Members to chart a way forward in agenda setting and priority of needs in their various Communities in order to give Government at all like levels a reasonable headstart in good Governance as many Governments failed as a result of bad agenda setting or lack of blueprint.
Added that Nigerians and Community Development Managers must get it well this time particularly now that 2019 General Elections were fast approaching, therefore it is imperative for them all to form a social network Analysis and Mapping that would engender unity of purpose thereby enhancing good Governance and dividends of Democracy as desired by all.
” It is very crucial to stress that Nigerians must get it right this time as the 2019 General Elections are fast approaching, Social Network Analysis and Mapping that will form unity of purpose with a good measure of self-sacrifice must be built all in order to get to the enviable height of the founding fathers.” He charged.
Earlier in his remark, the Head of Justice and Human Rights Department of the JDPMC Barrister Henry Okereke stood in for the Catholic Bishop of Osogbo Diocese Most Reverend. John Akin Oyejola and General coordinator Reverend Father Peter Akinkunmi pointed out the need for sustenance of Democracy and good Governance through close and proper monitoring of Public Office holders and projects being carried out by them in their Communities.
Not only this but also Conflict resolution, Discipline and Hardwork for by this Nigeria could walk shoulder to shoulder with all other Commity of Nations.
” Good Governance is not one man affair but rather collective business that must not be left alone to the Government for the Governed has a stake in it.” He noted.
In his vote of thanks the programme Officer Mr. Festus Ojewumi acknowledged the contributions and achievements existing good Governance Members while imploring the newly inaugurated ones to follow the same steps.
