A major crisis was averted in Farin Gada area, Jos, Plateau state capital yesterday as a result of immediate response by the security operatives.
The crisis began when an unidentified corpse of a 16 year old was discovered behind tomato market in the busy area.
As a result of the discovery, youths of the area went berserk blocking roads, burning vehicles and smashing glasses of cars. Several innocent road users and passersby were harassed, molested and dispossessed of their valuables.
The prompt intervention of men of the Nigerian police force and the Operation Safe Haven helped to bring the situation under control.
The incident created panic, pandemonium and apprehension in the city with some hoodlums attempting to break into shops at the Farin Gada junction.
Plateau state has been epicentre of ethno-religious crises in the past but has been relatively calm lately.
