Osun Monarch Commends Aregbesola For Curtailing Farmers, Herdsmen Crisis
A traditional monarch in Osun has commended the efforts of governor Rauf Aregbesola for curtailing the menace of the Fulani herdsmen from degenerating into a farmers herdsmen crisis in the state.
The Akire of Ikire, Oba Olatunde Falabi said the state had been out of the news for the killings and clashes of the herdsmen with farmers because of Aregbesola’s proactive steps, saying more efforts should be put in as the herdsmen were increasing in their numbers.
Oba Falabi stated this while playing host to the governor in his palace as part of activities marking the goodwill visit of governor Rauf Aregbesola to Irewole federal Constituency which comprise of Ayedaade/Isokan/Irewole local governments.
The royal father , who praised the efforts of Aregbesola at developing Osun noted that the governor would have done more if not for the paucity of funds occasioned by recent economic recession which befell the country.
While thanking God for giving Osun a visionary leader like Aregbesola, the monarch emphasized that the state would forever be grateful to God for giving the state a masses friendly governor.
Oba Falabi then appealed to the governor as well as other leaders of the All Progressives Comgress in the state to coordinate their members for the party to record outstanding success in the coming gubernatorial elections.
He commended Aregbesola for the various water and electrification projects going on in different parts of the state.
According to the monarch, “It is worthy of mention that the crisis between farmers and herdsmen going on in other parts of Nigeria has not been witnessed in Osun and this is down to the proactive measures taken by Aregbesola in that area.
“We are lucky in Osun to have a proactive governor like Aregbesola who saw what other governors did not see by quickly nipping the crisis in the bud.
“This is now an opportunity for us to tell the Osun government to intensify efforts at curtailing the menace because the herdsmen are increasing in their numbers around Ikire as we speak.
“On Aregbesol’s positive impact in Osun, one can not just praise his efforts because he has done what nobody thought was possible, he came at a time when there was paucity of funds and yet he gave the people of Osun good governance.
“As a people we will forever be grateful to God for giving us a governor like Aregbesola at this time. I am particularly happy because he has shown us how good governance is delivered and the standard has been set for others to follow.
“I now want to passionately appeal to the governor and leaders of the party to maintain discipline and orderliness so that the APC will not loose out in the coming elections. This is because the only party that has given the people of Osun hope for living is the APC.
Speaking, Governor Rauf Aregbesola appreciated the traditional monarchs in the state for their support and royal blessing, saying APC was committed to the development of the state and the country as at large.
Aregbesola who described his achievements within the space of seven years as enormous, saying the state has witnessed unprecedented developments under his watch.
He noted no family had never benefited directly or indirectly from his government through some of his life changing programmes.
Enumirating some of his achievements, the state helmsman said no fewer than 40,000 youths were empowered through Osun Youths Employment Scheme “OYES”.
He further explained that apart from road constructions that cut across all local government areas in the state, his government has built state-of-the-art class rooms among others.
He thereafter, urged the people of the state to continue to support APC before, during and after the gubernatorial election billed to hold on September 22, this year.
