Osun Gubernatorial Race Will Serve As A Mirror For 2019 Election -INEC Boss

The resident Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission Osun State, Mr. Segun Agbaje, has disclosed that the September 22nd gubernatorial election in the state would serve as a mirror for 2019 general election.

Agbaje charged the politicians to allow peace to reign before, during and after the election.

He said this while featuring on a radio program on Friday in Osogbo.

He appealed to all political parties that have interest in forthcoming election in Osun to join hands with the INEC for smooth and credible election.

Agbaje , who coordinated 2014 gubernatorial election in the state of Osun also stressed that 30 percent of electorate came out to vote during the election.

He urged the party to involve in educating the electorate on how to vote during the electioneering process in order to reduce void ballot in forthcoming election.

He promised that INEC would put all it possible best to have free, fair and credible election with the help of good will of the state and security personnel.

He admonished the party to submit the name of credible party agents on time so as to avoid illegality during the collation of the result.

According to him, “the police, DSS, would beef up security because INEC can not do it alone and to make sure that our people are able to come out and vote without fear that is why there is going to be consolidate agent is going to be there that will lead by the commissioner of police. To have peace and when we have peace during the election we could have peace after.”

“The people can record election process because is transparent process INEC have nothing to hide but the only thing that is not allow to carry camera near the voter to cover who is voting for it cannot allow is an offence”

“The notice of commencement of campaign would start on June 23rd but most of these parties were started underground campaign but formally it will declare 23rd June while commencement of campaign on 24th June and the conduct of primary election is between 24th of June and 24th July 2018.

“The submission of form of political party i from 24th July, withdraw of candidate ans late day of submission of forms of candidates August 2nd 2018 as it contain in INEC act of the federal republic of Nigeria and submission names of the party agent at leve of local government is September 7th.” he said
