The Christian Association of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter has described the return of Dapchi girls as a paradox as the body rejoices with the parents of the returned girls, Yobe State and federal government as well as all Nigerians.

This was contained in a press release today, signed by the Chairman of the Chapter, Rev Ayo Oladapo.

Oladapo expressed anger at the girl’s abductors for withholding the only Christian among the girls who refused to renounce her faith.

He said, “However, it is painful to note that Liya Sharibu the only girl that still remains with the Boko Haram is said to be the only lady that refused to renounce her Christian faith”. “With this development, it is clear that the battle is against Christianity”, the clergy lamented.

He queried, “Is it a crime to become a Christian in Nigeria? President Buhari should tell the whole world”.

The Chairman criticised the government, civil society organisations and human rights activists for their silence on the development noting that “It is painful that the government, civil society organization, human right activist kept mute on the only Christian girl that is still held captive”.

The Christian body demanded that “President Muhammadu Buhari and all his security outfits should without delay facilitate the immediate release of Layi Sharibu” alleging that, “It is becoming clearer that president Buhari’s administration is out to crush Christianity to nothing in this nation, if he is keeping quiet on the only girl in captivity because of her faith in Christ Jesus. No wonder, President Buhari is not doing much as expected of him to stop the killings of people in the Christian community by the herdsmen”.

The body called on the vice president, Professor Yemi Oshibanjo not to keep quiet as a Christian at this time and encouraged all Churches to mobilize prayer for the release of Liya Sharibu to rejoin with her parents unharmed.
