Man Killed His Police Officer’s Wife In Osun
A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Thursday remanded a 41-year -old man, Abiodun Oladebo for allegedly killing his wife, Mrs Opeyemi Ojo.
Presiding Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Ajanaku who gave the order said, the suspect should be kept behind the bar because of the criminal nature of the offence.
Mrs Ojo, who until her death was a police officer met her untimly death during a fracas that ensued between her and husband.
According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Tajudeen Mustapha, the incident happened on February 25, 2018 at about 5pm in Osogbo.
He said the accused committed the alleged crime by hitting the head of the deceased on the wall, which eventually led to her death.
Mustapha told the court that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal code Cap. 34 Vol.11 Law of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs. B.Y. Dada made a plea on behalf of the accused, which was turned down by the Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Ajanaku, base on the magnitude of the offence.
Ajanaku, thereafter ordered the accused to be remanded in custody at Ilesa prison
She also directed the police to foward the duplicate of the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The Magistratr later adjourned the case till May 19, 2018 for mention.
