Senator Jide Omoworare Empowers Constituents
Senator Babajide Omoworare in conjunction with National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Person NAPTIP and Afara foundation has empowered about 100 women across Ijesaland including Oriade and Obokun Local Government Areas.
The empowerment programme featured training for the women in areas of soap making, cake baking and production of coconut oil. The women were trained in this specific productive engagement to liberate them economically.
Mr Williams, the representative of NAPTIP spoke on the economic value of the training and it’s implications for fighting against human trafficking which is a social menace resulting from poverty.
Williams encouraged the women to take the training seriously. According to him, shun acts of giving their wards as househelps giving or seeking greener pastures in obscure locations that can lure them into slavery.
One of the beneficiaries at the training, Mrs Ganiyat Oladejo described the training as timely. She applauded Senator Omoworare for the laudable initiative which she described as a necessary intervention to fight poverty.
In her own words, Olubukola Taiwo who could not hide her joy said “the training exercises is a good initiative, it shows that the Senator is sensitive to the people’s plight and aware of things that can put food on our table which is better than giving us stipends at all time.
Fumilola Olowe, a middle age woman said the training is excellent, she promised to put it to practice and make money from it. She charged Senator Omoworare to do more of it. She prayed that God gives Omoworare more wisdom to perform his responsibility efficiently.
Osun East Senatorial District youth leader, Mr Olanireti Ogunsina Sunday while speaking encouraged the women to make good use of the opportunity offered by the Senator and continue to support Senator Omoworare and the APC to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
On behalf of Senator Omoworare, Mr Segun Omoworare thanked the participants for seizing the opportunity to improve their productivity. He encouraged them to put what they have learnt to practice and expect more goodies of this nature from Senator Omoworare.
At the end of the training which lasted for about 6 hours, the women were given starter packs to commence soap making, a mixer to support the cake making business and stipends to set them up.
