Man In Court Over Alleged Assault, Breach Of Public Peace
A 62-year-oldman,Ibrahim Idowu, was on Friday arraigned in an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun, over alleged assault , theft and breach of public peace.
Idowu is facing a four- count charge bothering on assault , breach of public peace and theft.
The prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Aug. 8 at about 4:00p.m at Alabada area in Okini.
Abiodun said the defendant assaulted some people to include; Suleiman Rasaki, Niyi Olasupo ,and Olawale Kamarudeen , which situation led to breach of public peace.
He said , Idowu stole one compass and ranging pole valued about N 150,000 belonging to the plaintiffs during the attack.
The prosecutor said the offense contravened Sections 516, 249(d), 355, and 390(9) of the criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge preferred against him.
The defense counsel, Mr Peter Ogundari , prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Habibatu Bashiru, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in the like sum.
Bashiru said the sureties must be residents within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments , and two passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned till Jan. 17, 2018 for hearing.
