A governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Dr. Kayode Oduoye has said if elected as governor in 2018, he will transform the state by making it the food basket of the south western region of Nigeria.

Oduoye who featured on Frank Talk on Rave fm in Osogbo, said Osun is blessed with fertile land and favourable climate which can make it self sufficient in food production and capable to feed states in the region.

He said “There is no reason to wait on the North or any other part of the nation for farm produce because God has blessed us so much with all that is required to be a prosperous state through agriculture.”

“We will ensure that the best policies are put in place to ensure the success of the various interventions we bring impact positively on the sector.”

On zoning as a factor for the 2018 governorship elections in the state, the PDP candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin federal constituency in the 2015 elections said agitations for zoning the seat is a major principle in Osun politics but affirmed that the party is yet to agree on zoning.

Oduoye who said he is not a kindergarten politician noted that governance is not all about age or experience but the capability and intellectual prowess to midwife the true dictates of governance.

The legal practitioner turned politician opined that since government is about service to the people, the collective will of the masses and electorate must be respected.

His words “For me it is not about zoning but the pedigree and capacity to deliver,we must bring on board people who have managed people and resources not those whose major qualification is what politics made them.”

“What will take Osun out of this present stage is not the age of Metuselah, but wisdom of Solomon, support of God with collaborative efforts of the People. The efforts that have been put in place by the people of my generation to ensure the party is alive are not credited to be kindergarten efforts.”

The Ikirun born PDP chieftain said efforts will not be spared in ensuring that the party is repositioned to take power from the APC in 2018.

“When we lost the presidential election in 2015, there was no place for anybody in the party to run to. Some of us thought that the fact that we lost should be an end to the party. Quite a number of them ran away. Why did they run away? Those of us who felt and knew that we have what it takes to restore, revive and reposition the party stayed back.”

“Our party is currently on the path of togetherness, repositioning for Greatness and ensuring that we re-claim the State. It’s a pity that we have people who just think that it’s about the gains of what they can get by been in office. For us, it is a Struggle. Our generation belives that we will be a wasted generation if we don’t play the right part to ensure that hopes are not lost and to give a right/proper direction to revive and reposition the State.”
