5 Delegates To Niger Delta Summit Die In Auto Crash As Osinbajo Declares Summit Open

No fewer than five delegates to the Second National Council Meeting of the Niger Delta holding in Igbokoda in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State Tuesday lost their lives.
It was gathered that the delegates whose identities were not yet ascertained as at the filing this report were travelling from Akure to Igbokoda for the summit which Vice President Yemi Osibajo is to chair.
The accident which happened at Ode -Aye, a sleepy town along Okitipupa Igbokoda road also rendered four people injured.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, Mr Femi Joseph who confirmed the accident, said the accident was caused by high speed.
He said three vehicles were involved in the fatal accident, adding that the vehicles were damaged beyond recognition.
The PPRO informed that the corpses had been deposited at the morgue of the state specialist hospital, Okitipupa, where the injured victims are also receiving treatment.
He said efforts are on by the state government and the Police to
rescue the injured victims.
