Septuagenarian Docked For Defrauding Mother, Son Of N250,000 In Osun

A 70-year-old man, Kareem Adebayo has been arraigned by police before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State capital for allegedly defrauding mother and son to the tune of N250,000.
Adebayo, who was gathered to have falsefully received the money from Alirat Olawumi under the pretence of securing employment for her son, Jamiu Olawumi, which eventually resulted to be false.
At the court on Tuesday, Prosecutor Taiwo Adegoke briefed the court that the accused person sometimes in the year 2017 received the sum of N250,000 from Alirat Olawumi with the pretence to assist her son, Jamiu Olawumi in securing him a job in the ongoing Armed Recruitments exercise through the accused person’s son, Mudashiru, who is a Military man serving at Benin in Edo State.
Adekunle said that the accused refused to payback the money to the complainant and had been indulging in such shady deals before he was arrested by the police and brought to the court.
He added that the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 419 of Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
Meanwhile,the defendant had pleaded not guilty of the allegation preferred against him.
Counsel to Adebayo,Okobe Najite applied for the bail of his client in the most liberal terms.
In her ruling,Magistrate Olubokola Awodele granted the accused person bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety.
She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till November 24, 2017 for hearing.
